Top 5 Tips for Choosing your Wedding Photographer

Value for Money/Cost

Set a budget for your wedding photographer. This is an important consideration for your wedding, but it should not be the sole basis for your selection.  High pricing does not guarantee quality whereas reasonable pricing does not mean you’ll receive low quality photographs.

Experience

An experienced wedding photographer will understand how to approach difficult conditions for taking photographs and find a way to overcome the issue. Hiring someone who has only shot 1 or 2 weddings will probably leave you a bit disappointed when you receive the photographs. One top tip, just because someone has a fancy camera, it doesn’t mean they’ll get great wedding photographs for you.

Know What You’re Getting

Read through your contract and understand exactly what your wedding photographer will be providing you with. Not just the amount of images, but how they will be delivered, when they will be delivered and how you can order wedding prints or albums. Also consider the time you’ve booked the photographer for. I’d recommend having coverage from your first dance through to your first dance. This’ll ensure that all the important moments are captured and then your guests can relax when it comes to party time!

Decide on a Style

Every photographer has a different style, my style is relaxed documentary style whereas some photographers offer a more formal (or classical approach). This will be the biggest influence on how your wedding photographers are. So view your chosen photographers previous work and see if you like it.

Book When You’ve Found The One

Much like your wedding dress, when you’ve found the one, BOOK THEM! You don’t want to lose out on your wedding being covered by the photographer of your choice because someone has already booked your wedding date.  Most photographers are taking bookings for not just the current year but the following year too. Get your name in their diary.

These five tips are not the be all and end all of the way to find your wedding photographer but they should help when it comes to selecting the right person for your wedding day. If you’d like to enquire about my services then  CONTACT ME
